What are the dangers of dust mites? Can a dust mite cause me harm in anyway? I heard dust mites can cause allergic reactions, how can it do that? Dust mites pose numerous questions and many people are completely oblivious to a dust mite’s lifestyle.
Do Dust Mites Produce Waste? Of course. Like all living things that eat dust mites must defecate as well. They defecate everywhere they go, in your bed, couch, carpeting and more. Usually a dust mite defecates about 20 times a day! That is a lot of feces.
That is Disgusting! How Harmful is All of That Crap (literally)? Yes it is very disgusting to know that you are sleeping in a massive pile of feces and both dead and living mites. The feces produced by a dust mite can actually trigger allergic reactions because the body thinks it is a foreign harmful substance. This works just like any other allergic reaction people have such as allergies to peanut butter, pollen or crayfish. We are not allergic to the actual dust mite but the wastes it produces.
How would someone describe a Dust mite? A dust mite is a living, breathing creature, just like you and me. It breathes, eats, defecates, and reproduces like any other living thing. Over its lifetime a female dust mite will lay a total of 100 eggs, and die within 60 days while a male dust mite will die within one month.
If Fecal Matter is Such a Problem Why are we Not Allergic to Our Own Feces? Within dust mite feces is a special protein that causes the trigger of allergic reactions. This is the reason human feces does not create a problem, the protein is not found within human waste.
What are some of the Symptoms of an Allergic Reaction? Similar to the reactions that pollen and dust allergies from dust mites cause itchiness, watery eyes, and sneezing. Allergies caused by dust mites are similar to having a permanent common cold, which causes frustration in many because they are unable to correctly locate the root of the problem.
Dust mites cause a lot of problems, but exactly how big is a dust mite? A dust mite’s size is minuscule, at a total size of only half a millimeter. Dust mites create enormous problems for asthma and allergy suffers in comparison to their tiny stature.
Roaming around your house at this very moment are millions of frightening 8 legged creatures, but hopefully with the information provided the subject of dust mites is not as eerie or cloudy as it once was.
